After the Christmas holidays and heading for 2013 I want to show you some colourful portraits. Tet is Vietnamese New Year and I was there at the beginning of this year (23rd January 2012) in a very cold Northern part of North Vietnam near the Chinese border. This is the family holiday and the whole country is on travel to their home area. And it is the time to show their traditional costumes and especially for the children. The head dresses are unique and necessary because it is so cold.

I always enjoy looking at those colorful pictures of you. Each time it amazes me how rich in color these people dress, despite their poverty and harsh living conditions.
This set of ten frames is ample proof of it. You ask me to tell you which one I like the most. Well, I have looked at them several times and find it really difficult to make a choice.
In the end I have decided that image 1 and 7 are the most beautiful. I like image 7 because of the embroidery (although it also looks a bit like lace to me) and the glass items. Image 1 is very colorful and cheerful, although the look in her eyes is somewhat troubled. But that makes it even better.
Keep posting these beautiful pictures.

Erny, al deze portretten zijn prachtig, maar de een trekt iets meer aan dan de ander. Nr 7 vind ik erg mooi, maar nr 3 bracht een glimlach op m’n gezicht, vanwege het contrast. Dat is dus mijn favoriet.
